Hair Origin
Asian Hair
Asian Hair is found frequently as extension hair. It is naturally straight or slightly wavy and dark in color. The hair shafts have large diameters that are round in shape. This hair is very strong and able to withstand harsh chemical processing, making it ideal for less intensive and less expensive methods of processing.
Caucasian Hair
It is very rare that Caucasian Hair (North American Hair), is used to produce hair extensions. The hair shafts are smallest in diameter of all hair types, and oval in shape. This makes the processing of the hair, as required by law in North America almost impossible without causing damage to the hair shafts. A large amount of harvested hair is required to produce enough hair per package to complete a full and natural look in the hair extensions.
Chinese Hair
Chinese Hair, like Asian Hair is found frequently as extension hair. It is naturally straight or slightly wavy, and dark in color. The hair shafts have large diameters that are round in shape. This hair is very strong and able to withstand harsh chemical processing, making it ideal for less intensive and less expensive methods of processing.
European Hair
European Hair, is harder to find as extension hair. It is naturally straight, wavy or curly, ranging in colors from medium-dark blond to dark brown. The hair shafts, while larger in diameter then Caucasian Hair, are small and round in shape. This hair is not strong enough to withstand harsh chemical processing, as such, much gentler, more intensive and more expensive processing methods are required, to meet entry requirements to North America.
Indian Hair
Indian Hair is small in diameter, although larger then Caucasian Hair. It is readily available on the market, as it is harvested from women at Temple; in thanks or when they get married, then sold to be produced into extension hair. The hair is dark in color and typically wavy; it has medium strength, and the method of processing the hair vary from harsh and inexpensive to gentle and expensive.
Russian Hair
Russian hair, like European Hair, is harder to find as extension hair. It is typically naturally straight, wavy or curly, ranging in colors from medium-dark blond to dark brown. The hair shafts, while larger in diameter then Caucasian Hair, are small and round in shape. This hair is not strong enough to withstand harsh chemical processing, as such, much gentler, more intensive and more expensive processing methods are required, to meet entry requirements to North America.
Rule of Thumb:
The closer the hair is in structure to your hair, before processing, the more natural your extensions will look.
